Newsletter: Winter 2007

By Paul Hesse (January 2007)

Well a new year has arrived with the weather that accompanies January flights. Wind, some ice and MVFR is here and will be here until mid May. Those low pressure systems that come up from the Gulf or off our NC coast normally cause all kinds of trouble this time of the year. Get good weather briefs.

We had over 20 people last year receive their private, instrument licenses or ratings. We have had some trouble with the application process recently and we need to make sure the forms are completed correctly. It appears the FAA has made some changes and they do not communicate very well with us in the field, causing a slow down in receiving your permanent certificate. We recently had a major discussion with them, causing concern and dismay.
